It's been a week.
This project is another version of something from nothing, and I give the credit for this idea to my friend Lisa of The Moonlit Stitch.
It is a simple five-pointed star, made from twigs that you can maybe find in your yard or a walk in the woods with your garden clippers.
You really only need twigs and something to fasten the ends with. Hot glue seemed to help but I found the best thing for this was something I had on hand which turned out to be a thin gauge rusted wire. If you do not have this you can use string, twine or thread.
I used viburnum sticks and the handy thing about having a hurricane remove most of your landscaping is there were so many things I could choose from.
I am not a measurer. This may come as a surprise to you but...I just don't. Go ahead and think what you will. However, I found it was better to go ahead and make sure that the sticks where the same height.
These make beautiful stars unembellished...But I am never an unembellisher.
The star on the top has not been wrapped with fabric, as you can see, but I did happen to have a bag of red buttons and went ahead and threaded them through that little rusted wire and wound them willy nilly onto the frame.
I did wrap some in some red plaid fabric that I had in my fabric stash. I hot glued the end and wrapped them around and hot glued the other end. You need five sticks and the best place I think to start is at the top. Wire this together first or join it together with what you have decided to use.
Try not to get glue on your tablecloth like I did.
(sigh)
Attach the other two sticks forming a point at the ends and joining them as evenly as possible.
You can stop here if you wish, or you can go ahead and add what you have on hand. Bits of moss, acorns, pinecones...hemlock cones. I used rusted bells and Buttons.
It's a fun project and I want to do the house up in stars.
